Laparoscopy for Children

Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique using small incisions and a camera system to diagnose and treat abdominal and pelvic conditions in children. Typical procedures performed laparoscopically include appendectomy, hernia repair, assessment of abdominal pain, and removal of cysts. Endoscopy in Paediatrics

Endoscopy enables direct visual examination of the digestive tract using a thin flexible tube equipped with a camera and light. It is performed under sedation or general anaesthesia for comfort. Indications include persistent abdominal pain, unexplained vomiting, swallowing difficulties, gastrointestinal bleeding, and foreign body ingestion. Endoscopic procedures are recommended for both diagnosis (e.g., biopsies for celiac disease or IBD) and treatment (e.g., removal of foreign objects, dilation of strictures, control of bleeding). All endoscopic interventions are done in accordance with international and regional safety guidelines, using equipment sized and suited for the age of the child.

Vascular Access for Paediatric Patients

Vascular access procedures are often required for children needing long-term treatments, intravenous therapies, or repeated blood draws. Dr. Chuma offers a range of vascular access solutions, including peripheral IV lines, peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC lines), portacaths, and tunnelled central lines. The right device is selected based on the length of therapy, patient comfort, and the type of treatment. All vascular access procedures are performed using the latest techniques to minimize pain, reduce infection risk, and ensure long-term reliability. Maintenance and education about vascular access care are shared with parents to optimize outcomes and minimize complications.
